Quantum of Solace
"Quantum of Solace" opened nearly three weeks ago in the United Kingdom and other select European countries. The film, the follow-up to 2006's critical and commercial success, "Casino Royale," topped the box office for two straight weeks in the U.K, bringing in record receipts. "Solace" opens in theaters across the continental United States this Friday and it is a safe bet to assume that it will likely top the American box office as well. No film review, regardless of its eloquent prose, its attention to aesthetic and formal detail, its discussion on the quality of Daniel Craig's performance could detour the "Quantum of Solace" ship from box office bounty. The people have their own sort of ritualistic bond with the titular character, one that demands their direct engagement with each subsequent film, film reviews be damned.
